Do NOT pay for peace of mind.

The best Internet Security Software IS free. No real secret, just something that others would have you forget or not discover.
AND SO IT SHOULD BE!!
You didn't ask to be infested so why should you pay to get it removed?
I detest the adverts that go something like - "FREE SECURITY SCAN" or "FREE DOWNLOAD" and then go on to tell you that you have lots of spyware, keyloggers, cookies, adware, browser helper objects, malware, viruses, rootkits, hi-jackers, data-miners, secret aggressive advertising, exploits, pests and on and on and that its only so-many-dollars for their download to get your system clean!
I have had enough of this exploitation of fear and loss of privacy and have created this site to rectify the main problems we have from those idiots that "give" us these evils - and the others who have the temerity to charge us for the removal of, often ficticious, threats.

You will learn, as I did, that the good guys have provided the best tools for your safety free of charge. Everything you need to keep your system clean and running smoothly. DO NOT PAY FOR ANY "SECURITY" PROGRAM - you can get the best for no-cost. In fact most of the best software is still free, not just to secure yourself but also to achieve almost any task!
I love good news, almost as much as I love free :)

So. The first free security secrets are..... Advice and Caution!

Whilst on the subject - check everything to do with your credit cards. Credit card application forms have been, and will be again, reconstructed from the torn up shreds you threw away. Some idiot has taken your discarded credit card form and stuck it back together. What! you exclaim - the company that issued it will never serve up or deliver a card from that! The short answer is "yep - they will and often DO". People are expected to rethink their financial decisions.
Buy a shredder. Push every piece of credit card related information into it. Always. OK - on to your online health....

Pay for nothing. Avoid temptation.
There are three major types of security threat. The first is from criminals who push programs, or files, upon you without you requesting them, either hidden inside a bigger "package" or secretly injected onto your computer while you were looking the other way. The second is when you actively request a file, program or email that then turns out to be a threat to your health, or to contain one. The third is Identity Theft, or phishing - this one is so huge (but you are covered quite well by the guidelines on this site) that an article based solely on this subject is my primary project just now.
No-one is offering you a "free" toolbar (or whatever) without there being some hidden cost to you. Even Google has an ulterior motive in offering you their browser extension. Avoid giving your email address to anyone you dont know (simple advice but hey) Never reply to an anonymous email. Never respond to an email asking for sensitive, secret information. Its YOUR security at risk here, not theirs.

Don't download a program that offers to find problems. The key here is the word find. The worst of these idiots actually put stuff onto your machine so as to prove that their sad little piece of software has "found" some threat when there was none! Sorry to rant but they are preying on the worried, vulnerable and innocent everyday Internet user and this must change.
OK so some people do not see the danger of toolbars, browser extensions and the like but that is no excuse for the predators to feast.
OK Microsoft have created an arm of their empire to tackle these jackals but its ineffective right now and is very very late for a company that inserted some of the worst loopholes into its very own software, whether inadvertently or not.

So we will start there. Either go through the following rigmarole or, preferably, move over to an alternative Browser such as FireFox....

Download THE MOST SECURE Internet Browser

....whose creators have already side-stepped the many flaws in Internet Explorer. To negate said flaws is not obvious as MS have included some wierd "options" in the advanced section of tools in IE. So, if you intend to stay with IE, here we go:

Launch IE and on the top menu go to tools / internet options and navigate to the "Advanced" tab, usually on the far right. Looking down this list should scare you as some of the "default" items are downright dangerous. We recommend unticking both "Enable Install On Demand" options, the "Enable offline items to be synchronized on a schedule" option and the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option at the very least. This will prevent unscrupulous criminals from secret invasion of your internet security via its most popular free interface.
